There were skin cancer, vision, and osteoporosis screenings; cancer, diabetes, nutrition and weight loss education; free back massages, and more. All the tests and screenings were free of charge, and there were a wide variety of doctors and health-oriented businesses on hand.
At the entrance, there was flu information available and as well as free flu kits, including masks, hand sanitizer, Gatorade packets, and more.
Scott Monroe, VVMC publicity, said the seasonal flu shot was given out at the fair, but the children’s vaccine was in high demand that morning and they ran out before the fair was over.
He said the Southwest Public Health Department had a limited number of H1N1 mist doses for health care workers, but that vaccine was not yet available for the public.
