Gateway musicians get recognition

Congratulations to all the Gateway Preparatory Academy choir, band, and orchestra members who participated in the Heritage Festival, and thanks to the directors, volunteers, staff, judges, and parents who made the festival a success!

The festival is an adjudicated performance festival judged by music professionals from around the country. Ensembles from all over North America entered the event. Gateway entered three groups (32 students, from second through eighth grade) in the competition and clinic.

Gateway Preparatory Academy was judged in the middle school/junior high category. Gateway received five awards. The band and choir both received silver. The orchestra received a gold and The Outstanding Orchestra award.

The orchestra has been invited to compete at the Heritage Festival in Carnegie Hall, New York. Kylee Groft was awarded the Maestro Award, an award dedicated to an individual with dedication to music, family, and school.

The competition was at the Heritage Festival Theatre in Anaheim. Congratulations to all of the ensemble members and staff for these excellent results. All three ensembles performed well look forward to future festivals and concerts.

To see some of our musicians, join us for our Solo and Ensemble Concert Friday. Also Friday, our fourth through sixth graders will be attending the Playmakers performance of “Seussical Jr.” Thanks to the parents making this field trip happen.

On Monday our third graders will be enjoying their annual Farm Day field trip. Our gratitude also goes to the parents (current and prospective) and community members that made our “Discover Montessori Week” a huge success. Visit www.gpacharter.org for more information.

Fiddlers has great supportive, parents

Fiddlers Canyon Elementary would like to thank those parents who came to SEP’s and discussed their child’s progress in school. As usual we had a great turnout!

Also, we’d like to thank those parents who filled out our annual parent survey – online and manually. Our parents are so supportive and kind!

March 16, was Spring Picture Day. All students had their pictures taken. We will be sending home the photos in a couple of weeks. Parents are reminded that they need to either purchase the photos or return them to the school. Thanks!

South keeps busy

The sunshine is radiating on some great activities at South. On Monday SUU’s dance students brought some lessons to our fourth graders. Tuesday Kindergarten tripped to the SUU farm for some springtime lessons. Wednesday fourth grade went to the Heritage Center for a Ririe-Woodbury Dance performance.

The PTA is meeting today. Our Olympic Read-a-thon ends Friday, but please don’t stop reading with your children! Our Science Fair is on Friday.

Some of our fourth graders will attend “Seussical Jr.” on Friday.

Spring Break begins next Wednesday and school resumes on April 4.

Three Peaks has science fair winners

Three Peaks Elementary is pleased to announce the winners of the annual Science Fair on March 11-12. We congratulate each of the winners and thank Clay Carter for his leadership and hard work on the fair.

CVMS starts final 2009-2010 term

It’s hard to believe we’ve started the final term.

Performing Arts students wrote the music, scripts and performed their own operas for a students and the community on March 17. They did a great job and look forward to their annual school play in May.

Students in our Media Productions class recently visited the television studio at SUU. This was a great opportunity to learn about broadcasting and gave students ideas for our KUGR morning show.

Congratulations to the following first place winners of the Career Carnival from each sixth grade core class: Kache White, Brooke Williams, Shawnee Johnson, Seleck Rigby, Camry Gover, Russell Rowland, Abby Shakespeare, Summer Smith, Dax Callison, and Cassie Peck.

Our wonderful PTSA provided cash awards and certificates for the first, second, and third place winners from each core class. A special thank you to Natalie Haley, our sixth grade counselor, who organized the event.

PHS has busy week

Last week we had a lot going on. On March 16 there was baseball and softball at Kanab and boys’ soccer at North Sevier.

On March 17 there was Region Drama. On March 18 there was Region Solo & Ensemble, softball at North Summit, JV baseball at Cedar, and boys’ soccer vs. Maple Mountain. On Friday and Saturday there was baseball in Vegas, boys’ tennis at the Dixie Tournament, and softball at the Dixie Tournament.
