CEDAR CITY – In Jubilo will be putting on a special Mother’s Day Choral Concert at the Heritage Theater on Sunday beginning at 7:30 p.m.

In Jubilo is Cedar City’s own all-women community choir, Jackie Riddle-Jackson, choir director, said. The choir is composed of women ranging in age from mid-20s to almost 80 years old.

The choir typically performs everything from sacred music to pop and is now in its sixth or seventh season.

For its Mother’s Day Concert, In Jubilo will perform several sacred songs, some Mother’s Day songs and a couple fun songs, like “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” Riddle-Jackson said.

“There will also be a really nice rendition of ‘Oh Danny Boy’ that I think people will really enjoy,” she said.

One of the choir’s members, Joan Ford, is also a composer and has composed three of the songs that In Jubilo will be performing at the Mother’s Day Concert, Riddle-Jackson said.

In Jubilo will be joined by the Southern Utah Handbell Choir, directed by Glen Hicks. The Handbell Choir will accompany In Jubilo on one or two songs and will perform some songs on its own as well.

Riddle-Jackson said the Mother’s Day Concert is perfect for all ages and is a great way to celebrate Mother’s Day as a family.

“It’s perfect for families,” Riddle-Jackson said. “We want to get a crowd there.”

The In Jubilo Mother’s Day Choral Concert is free and open to everyone in the community.

The Heritage Theater is at 105 N. 100 East. For more information, call 586-2882.
