First, Canyon View is a bigger school. Second, Canyon View has very experienced players while Parowan has only one year under its belt. Third, last year it was much worse with a 1-14 loss to the Falcons.
The Lady Rams started out their week last Thursday as they played in-region rival Beaver. Playing an aggressive offense against a tough team, Parowan got their second victory of the season with a score of 3-1.
“We took more shots than them and that’s what made it,” Coach Lindsey Delcore said of the game, which was on a stormy, rainy day. “We made more shots from further out and had a lot of good crosses, which was our goal.”
This important regional win didn’t give the Rams the momentum to beat the Falcons when they played last Friday.
While Delcore thought her team played well for the first half of each period, the energy would wear out.
“Our aggressiveness is going to be one of our strong points,” Delcore said. “But we let it go after the first half.”
Canyon View coach Mark Comstock said he thought the Rams showed a lot of improvement from last year.
“You’ve got to hand it to Lindsey,” Comstock said. “They’ve obviously came a long way since last year and have made some big strides.”
Parowan played South Sevier on Tuesday and Millard on Wednesday (results were not available at press time) and next take to the field Monday at Grand.
As far as Canyon View goes, this week sees their debut in region games with a game against Snow Canyon today and against in-town rival Cedar next Tuesday.
“These pre-season games give us a chance to get in some extra experience and practice,” Comstock said. “You try to find a good mix of opponents.”
With a tie against Judge Memorial and two shut outs so far, the season is looking great for the Falcons.
